Dear Ladys and Gentleman
I am following the discussion about the new firearm directive very carefully because I would be directly affected if B7 Guns would be banned. In Austria these guns are very restricted, the government proves that there is no way to convert them into fully automatic assault rifles. There are no essential Parts interchangeable. They are perfectly legal in Austria and there are no records of crimes committed with them. To get the licence to own this B7 and B guns (Pistols) you have to pass a psychological test and every 5 years Policeman are visiting cat. B7 an cat. B owner at home to be sure that we are still trustworthy to own these guns. We use them for sport shooting and only for sport shooting.
I read the paper INT/777EESC-2015-06789-00-00-DT-TRA (PT) 2/6 an in my opinion this paper is very unprofessional. Pleas compare to (
https://legalwaffenbesitzer.files.wordp ... gunban.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Some Points which are really problematic for me:
Point 3.1
The Proposal was brought to the EP shortly after the terrorist attacks in Paris, for me seems that de EC wants to use these horrible events for their anti gun agenda even if there is no more safety after disarming lawful citizens.
Point 3.5,3.6 and 3,8
I found only one reference (for the 63000 weapons related deaths ) to back up the statements. For the other statements i found no references in this paper. For example there are no information's if there is a significant decrease oft he suicide rate after the gun ban in the UK. Or if there was a significant decrease of homicides in Australia after the gun ban. One statement (3.7)implies for me that every gun owner is a potential murderer(????). Why are there not more hard facts? ,,I think that''or ,, I believe that'' is for me not a base on which someone should take away something from lawful citizens. For me that paper is highly polemic and it uses the fear oft he People to get some personal agendas done. In Austria we get the impression that the EU is only good for implying useless laws in really important things like the refugees crisis we are left alone.
There is also a better, in my opinion well reseched paper on this topic.
