As was announced earlier last week by TFB, KRISS has announced a new .22LR rifle, the DMK-22. What I’ve got for you in this post is exclusive video footage of the new rifle in action.
If you love the AR-15 platform chambered in .22LR, but have never really been satisfied by your options, perhaps the new Defiance DMK-22 rifle by the KRISS Group will suit you. The DMK-22 will accept many standard AR-15 buttstocks, grips, forearms, and drop-in triggers. The KRISS folks were really coy about what kind of barrels it will accept, but think of some of the most popular .22LR rifle barrels out there, and you can tell what they were implying.
The most significant “feature” of this new rifle is perhaps its price point: sub-$500. For less than $500 you’ll get an out-of-the-box AR-style rifle in .22LR. If the rifle actually comes out at that price then I predict these will fly off the shelves.
I spent about 10 minutes with the DMK-22, both holding it and shooting it, and I gotta say that it felt really solid. I own multiple AR-15s and if I were to add this one to my collection it would not only have a home but it would be put to good use. The AR platform is great for plinking, target shooting, and competition. Having an AR chambered in .22LR is a way to keep your ammo costs down. I also really love introducing new shooters to the .22LR round since it doesn’t have a loud report, nor does it have much, if any, recoil.
We will hopefully see the Defiance DMK-22 rifle get out into the wild later this summer. But in the meantime, check out this footage of the rifle in action.
